HOW TO BE A RESPONSIBLE PET OWNER AND ABIDE BY THE PET ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF AMORY
- You must provide clean water, food, and a clean area to live for your animal, which includes shelter from the elements (heat, cold, precipitation, and wind) at all times.
- Leash laws are enforced. You may NOT allow your dog or cat to run free off your property. This is for the protection of the public as well as your pet. If your animal runs free away from your property you are allowing them to be exposed to diseases that may shorten its life or come into contact with other creatures, in which case it could be killed. You are also allowing your animal to become a nuisance to your neighbors. Cats are predators that kill wild birds that many citizens of Amory enjoy watching and feeding.
- If you walk your leashed dog off your property in public areas you must scoop their poop! Do not leave it for your neighbor to step in.
- You can not chain or tie your dog out for prolonged periods of time. No more than 10 hours within a 24 hour day. If you choose or own an outside dog you should have a fenced-in area above ground or under ground that prevents your dog from leaving your property.
- You must have your dog or cat vaccinated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian on a regular basis.
- You cannot leave your pet inside your motor vehicle alone for any reason!
- Animals are not allowed at the Amory Railroad Festival, leashed or otherwise.
- If you think or know that your dog or cat will bite people or other animals, you must take precautions to keep your pet away from situations that might provoke him/her to bite. You have a responsibility to protect your friend and the public.
