Thanks to Greater Good Charities and Locks 4 Paws, the animal shelter will provide pet food, supplies to people affected by the March 24 tornado. Amory, Mississippi, June 13, 2023 – Monroe County citizens affected by the March tornado are invited to stop by the Amory Humane Society on June 23 and 24 to pick up free pet food and supplies. Thanks to an in-kind grant from Greater Good Charities and a large donation from Locks 4 Paws, the shelter has kibble, wet food, leashes, toys and more to offer the community. Greater Birmingham Humane Society in Alabama, which is located two hours from Amory, voluntarily served as a waystation and delivery service for the supplies sent by Greater Goods. “Since the tornado, our community has experienced an outpouring of generosity,” says Misty Daniels, Amory Humane Society executive director. “We have also had a record-breaking influx of pets in need of help. We’re grateful to Locks 4 Paws, Greater Good Charities and Greater Birmingham Humane Society for helping ensure that pets here are taken care of and can stay with their families.” The giveaway happens Friday, June 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. — rain or shine. The shelter’s address is 1317 Old Hwy 6. “We will have plenty of supplies, so we hope everyone takes advantage of this opportunity,” Daniels said.
